Many have long believed that “Modern Family” will end soon since the show’s contract is set to expire after the tenth season. But in a recent interview with the Hollywood Reporter, series co-creator and showrunner Steve Levitan teased that “Modern Family” Season 11 is still possible if certain things fall into place.
“There's definitely interest from the studio and network and we're all trying to figure out if that's what we want to do. There's a general desire from just about everybody involved to not say goodbye yet. There are a couple hurdles that have to be climbed. We'll see if it all comes together,” Levitan said. “It's the cast and making sure we have the right stories and can put together and bring back most of our writers that have been with us for so long. And that it still makes sense financially for everybody,” he added.
It good to hear that the current season may not be the last one. The sitcom doesn’t have to end as long as there are more stories to tell. However, Levitan did add that “Modern Family” Season 11 will definitely be the final season if it renewed.
“Modern Family” stars Ed O'Neill as Jay, Sofía Vergara as Gloria, Julie Bowen as Claire, Ty Burrell as Phil, Jesse Tyler Ferguson as Mitchell, Eric Stonestreet as Cam, Sarah Hyland as Haley, Ariel Winter as Alex, Nolan Gould as Luke, Rico Rodriguez as Manny, Aubrey Anderson-Emmons as Lily, and Jeremy Maguire as Joe.
If there is going to be a “Modern Family” Season 11, the producers will have to find a way to keep the main cast together because the show will not be the same if one of them is missing. For now, “Modern Family” Season 10 will continue to air every Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
