Video games today come in all varieties; Simulation, Shooter, RPG, among others. Mohamed Soliman, a dedicated gamer for several years now, says that the platformer games are the ones that popularized video games. Platforming games are a subgenre of action games that feature two-dimensional graphics in which players direct characters who either climb or jump between different platforms on the screen. Although platformer days are gone now, Mohamed Soliman lists the following games as some of the best platformer video games.
Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES)
Who doesn't know about Super Mario? Mario is easily one of the most recognizable and popular characters in video games, and it is played by kids and adults alike. Despite its age, it still feels fresh today. There's more to super Mario bros than the usual left to right progression in a level. Some levels require bottom to top and right to left movement, while in others, the screen automatically scrolls to allow you to move to maintain the action continually. Mohamed Soliman admits to playing Super Mario to date, saying that it is super addictive.
Anubis II (Nintendo Wii)
Anubis II is an enthralling sequel to the sleeper hit Anubis. In Anubis II, Mumm’hotep, the spooky spirit has plunged all of Egypt into darkness, and Anubis has been summoned once again to put a stop to him and his minions. To navigate the complex, sprawling topography, Anubis must use all his tricks. Mohamed Soliman describes Anubis as an inspiring character with a fascinating premise, and playing the game is a wholesome experience from start to finish.
Bubsy in 3-D (Sony Playstation)
In the 16-bit era, Bubsy games featured cartoony graphics colorful with entertaining voice samples from Rob Paulsen, a veteran cartoon voice actor. Going into the 32-bit era, Bubsy combined all the aspects that made Bubsy a good platformer and rose to new heights.
Bubsy 3-D introduced a running commentary by a titular bobcat in a soothing voice, which Mohamed Soliman says charmed players everywhere. Additionally, it came with an in-game camera that would adjust into a position of your advantage every time Bubsy landed on platforms. Bubsy 3-D was so warmly received it almost became cultic.
Total Recall (NES)
Total recall is a beautifully animated platformer that follows events of the Schwarzenegger movie. Both gamers and critics have universally praised its innovative physics and smooth controls. In the history of platformer video games, total recall's oxygen factory level is the most well-drawn and the most forgiving with adequate levels. Mohamed Soliman notes that any mistakes made are not due to poorly designed jumps but because of the level's inherent difficulty.
Although the dominance of online platform games has declined over the years, many people across the world still play these games. The range of platform games offered at the time was small due to limitations in technology, but today you can go on plenty of websites to enjoy these games. Mohammed Soliman writes guides on gaming from a vantage point of his own experience playing. So if you would like to find out more about other games, Rated is the man.
