“NCIS: New Orleans” Season 5 is going to feature real-life events as its fifth episode will be dealing with a car explosion in the French Quarter. The synopsis reveals that a “professor and former member of a student protest organization” will be interrogated in relation to the attack, CarterMatt reported.
The writers of the show seem to be drawing inspiration from the recent clash between the Bangladeshi government and student protesters. The protest started when the students called attention to road safety in the country, with the movement devolving into panic and violence from both sides. “NCIS: New Orleans” Season 5 could very well see some echoes of this in “Sheepdogs.”
Indeed, the title itself is quite telling about what’s going to occur in the story, with “sheep” alluding to individuals who blindly follow authority and “dog” representing the powers shepherding the masses. And with history rife with protests devolving into chaos and show of force, the next episode of “NCIS: New Orleans” Season 5 will likely mirror such struggle.
Meanwhile, Hannah (Necar Zadegan) is set to undergo some character development as Tammy (Vanessa Ferlito) discovers a secret in the temporary leader’s personal life. Showrunner Christopher Silber previously mentioned that the background of the characters will be further revealed in “NCIS: New Orleans” Season 5.
The decision is to shake things up for the characters of the series and have them questioning their respective roles and future goals, both professionally and personally. This introspection was started when Pride nearly got killed following his failed assassination that got him sidelined in this installment. Pride himself is currently undergoing this journey himself as the previous episode of “NCIS: New Orleans” Season 5 had him seeking the help of Commander Atkins (Geoffrey Owens).
Although the character’s appearance has been limited, Silber said that viewers may see more of Commander Atkins in the future. In the meantime, “NCIS: New Orleans” Season 5 is taking a one-week hiatus due to the upcoming midterm election. The next episode of the show will be returning on Nov. 13.
