The end-of-October short interest represents 4.97 days average daily Nasdaq Global Market share volume for the reporting period, compared with 4.55 days for the prior reporting period.
Short interest in 863 securities on The Nasdaq Capital MarketSM totaled 821,568,682 shares at the end of the settlement date of October 31, 2017 compared with 804,562,297 shares in 852 securities for the previous reporting period. This represents 2.70 days average daily volume, compared with the previous reporting period’s figure of 2.68.
In summary, short interest in all 3,211 Nasdaq® securities totaled 8,117,067,960 shares at the October 31, 2017 settlement date, compared with 3,189 issues and 8,297,704,580 shares at the end of the previous reporting period. This is 4.58 days average daily volume, compared with an average of 4.26 days for the previous reporting period.
