NEW YORK, April 24, 2018 -- At the end of the settlement date of April 13, 2018, short interest in 2,332 Nasdaq Global MarketSM securities totaled 7,225,723,436 shares compared with 7,182,505,080 shares in 2,335 Global Market issues reported for the prior settlement date of March 29, 2018. The mid-April short interest represents 3.68 days average daily Nasdaq Global Market share volume for the reporting period, compared with 3.80 days for the prior reporting period.
Short interest in 888 securities on The Nasdaq Capital MarketSM totaled 1,047,853,121 shares at the end of the settlement date of April 13, 2018 compared with 981,869,764 shares in 884 securities for the previous reporting period. This represents 2.52 days average daily volume, compared with the previous reporting period’s figure of 2.40.
In summary, short interest in all 3,220 Nasdaq® securities totaled 8,273,576,557 shares at the April 13, 2018 settlement date, compared with 3,219 issues and 8,164,374,844 shares at the end of the previous reporting period. This is 3.47 days average daily volume, compared with an average of 3.55 days for the previous reporting period.
