‘Nashville’ season 5’s episode 11, titled “Fire and Rain,” will follow Deacon as he is forced into a dilemma over his unfinished duet album with Rayna after Zach demands to get the masters. Meanwhile, Juliette volunteers to help Maddie deal with her newfound fame.
The synopsis for “Fire and Rain” posted on TV Guide reads, “Juliette (Hayden Panettiere) helps Maddie (Lennon Stella) navigate the wave of attention she receives after her performance at the CMT Music Awards; Zach demands the masters from Rayna (Connie Britton) and Deacon's (Charles Esten) unfinished album.”
The promo for the mid-season finale opens to Zach addressing the issue of Rayna and Deacon’s final album during a meeting. Deacon is caught off guard and says, “It’s not finished.”
Zach replies calmly with a smirk on his face, “When will it be?” Deacon erupts in anger and yells at Zach, “You know what these songs are about? Undying love!”
It seems that Zach is intent on cashing in on Rayna’s unexpected death by demanding her unfinished album with Deacon. Rayna passed away in the hospital shortly after getting involved in a car crash following her traumatic encounter with her stalker. It will be interesting to see how Deacon reacts to this unusual demand, considering that he and Rayna’s family are still in grief over the tragedy.
During an interview with TVLine, executive producer Marshall Herskovitz revealed that Rayna and Deacon’s unfinished album will be a major issue in the new episode. Herskovitz teased, “It’s not finished and that’s a big — that is, in fact, the dilemma that they face in the eleventh episode, the finale of this first part of the season. The fact that it’s not finished, and what are they going to do?”
Meanwhile, another scene from the promo shows Juliette announcing that Maddie has been getting offers to appear on television after her performance at the CMT Music Awards. She suggests, “I could take her to New York.”
It seems that Maddie will be getting her own share of the limelight and will even appear on a talk show, which ultimately boosts her exposure as an artist. However, she will receive a call urging her to go back home since Deacon is in a terrible state and needs her help. In the final scene, Deacon is seen crying uncontrollably.
‘Nashville’ season 5’s episode 11, titled “Fire and Rain,” is scheduled to be released on CMT on March 9, 2017.
