The NBA’s New York Knicks are targeting a jersey patch partnership deal worth US$30 million per year to replace the Squarespace deal, which expired following the 2021/22 season.,
Squarespace paid between US$15 million and US$16 million per year for the jersey patch sponsorship, with half of the money going to other Madison Square Garden Sports-owned properties, including the NHL's New York Rangers.
In October, the Knicks brought in the Sportfive agency to identify a replacement for Squarespace
The Knicks remain one of just four NBA teams without a jersey patch sponsor.
The Knicks are reportedly holding out for a similar US$30 million per season jersey patch agreement struck by the Brooklyn Nets with Webull.
MSG is banking on the Knicks’ popularity to woo a sponsor willing to pay a top-market fee for the jersey patch.
The Nets have the top jersey deal in the NBA, followed by the Golden State Warriors and the Los Angeles Lakers, both earning around $20 million from their respective deals.
