Leaks about upcoming video games have become a lot more common thanks to the advent of the internet, which affects the likes of the Tomb Raider franchise. This time, it seems the leak happened because one of the people working on the project had his laptop open during a ride on the subway. As a result, someone managed to capture an image of the open screen, thus exposing a few details about the game.
Opening one’s laptop while in transit via bus, plane, or subway train is a bad idea for so many reasons. It’s even worse for those working on secret projects that no one should know the details about, which happens to include upcoming video game titles. This is exactly what one employee did on a subway in Montreal, which a user made a Reddit post about with picture included.
The image is a bit blurry and it’s difficult to make out most of the details, but some texts are clear enough to see. Some of the information that was legible includes the title of the next Tomb Raider installment, which is now known as “Shadow of the Tomb Raider.”
Kotaku confirmed with a source that this is indeed going to be the name of the third installment to the revamped franchise, following “Tomb Raider” and “Rise of the Tomb Raider.” However, as is the case with all on-going projects, the name could just as easily change before the official announcement of the game, which is yet to be set.
This isn’t the first time that details about a game were leaked thanks to the carelessness of workers when opening their devices on public transportation. As Business Insider notes, the same thing happened to Ubisoft’s “Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag.” The only difference was that the leak happened on a plane instead of a subway train.
