Nike is launching new products specifically designed for expecting and postpartum mothers. The initiative aims to provide them with performance apparel and footwear that offer support, versatility, and comfort. Teams comprising mothers and mothers' partners led the initiative, culminating in the creation of the Nike (M) Swoosh Bra and the Nike Reina EasyOn shoe.
The Nike (M) Swoosh Bra: A New Standard in Maternity Sportswear
A press release claims that the Nike (M) Swoosh Bra is a game-changer in maternity sportswear, designed to adapt to the fluctuating needs of mothers. It features adjustable cups to accommodate wearable breast pumps, straps with proprietary hardware for individual drop-downs for nursing, and Nike Leak Protection: Breast Milk to prevent visible leaks. Highlighting the need for flexibility and support, Fanny Ho, Nike's Senior Manager of Design Innovation, states the product aims to break the compromise between comfort and support experienced by many women.
Nike Reina EasyOn: Revolutionary Footwear for Mothers
Complementing the apparel, Nike introduced the Nike Reina EasyOn shoe, its first footwear designed for expecting and postpartum mothers. It features a Nike My-Fit Sockliner for adjustable width, a hands-free entry design for ease of wear, and a supportive sole for additional stability and comfort. Kelly O'Connor, Nike Director of Lifestyle Footwear Product, emphasizes innovation in meeting mothers' new and varying needs.
Expanding the Nike (M) Collection
With the Nike (M) Swoosh Bra and Nike Reina EasyOn Shoe at the forefront, Nike is also expanding its (M) collection to include a new dress, tanks, tops, shorts, and tights tailored for mothers. Furthermore, Nike is enriching its Nike Training Club app with motherhood-inspired workouts, offering a comprehensive approach to support mothers in their fitness journeys.
Addressing the Paris 2024 Olympic Uniform Controversy
In addition to its innovations for mothers, Nike is defending its uniform design for the women's track and field team at the Paris 2024 Olympics amid criticisms and debates over sexism, as per CBS. Asserting that it prioritized athlete input, breathability, and performance, Nike stands by its offering of tailored silhouettes to cater to a wide range of athlete preferences and body types.
The Nike (M) Swoosh Bra and collection are now available, and the Nike Reina EasyOn shoe will launch in May. This marks a significant step towards supporting mothers without compromising on performance and style.
