One of the premier complaints with regards to the Nintendo Switch is the small number of launch titles. Practically every single one of these games was highly praised, with the new Legend of Zelda leading the charge, but a limited library does leave something to be desired. By adding eight more titles to Switch, Nintendo just gave people more reasons to buy the console.
Before anyone starts jumping for joy, it should be noted that the new games seem to be catering to a very specific type of player. With classic arcade titles and retro-influenced games, this new batch of video games seems designed to tug at the nostalgia of old-school gamers. Blaster Mastery Zero is a good example of this point since it basically takes cues from 8-bit classics, Polygon reports.
Aside from the title already mentioned, the Switch will also be getting the iconic Metal Slug 3 side-scrolling shooter, along with The King of Fighters ’98, and Shock Troopers. Most of the games already available can be bought at $7.99 apiece, which is a delicate balance between overcharging and just the right price.
There is one title that sets itself apart from the rest, however, which is called VOEZ. It’s basically a musical game that involves revealing stories of different individuals. Players can access 100 of these stories and songs if they pay up $25. It should be noted that the title has already been receiving criticisms since it can’t be played on TV mode.
The Switch wasn’t the only unit to get new games on its library, however, as both the Wii U and the 3DS were also given new titles that players can buy and download. These include the classic Bomberman 64, WarpZoned reports, while the 3DS is getting tiles like the Mini Sports Collection.
