With the second season of the anime having concluded almost four years ago, fans have been wondering if “Noragami” Season 3 would ever come. As it turns out, the reason for the huge delay was simply because there was not enough story material to work with back in 2015. Now that years have passed, there is enough story to comprise a new season, but there is still no guarantee of renewal.
As OtakuKart recently pointed out, the reason why fans are still waiting for “Noragami” Season 3 to come out is due to the fact that the source material was still ongoing. Without more story to base the show on, the animators could not bring it to life on the small screen. On the one hand, this is good since it avoids the “Boruto” situation in which a ton of fillers had to be thrown in.
Unfortunately, it also meant an incredible amount of waiting time for the fans who are simply itching to watch more of one of the most interesting anime around. Thanks to the fact that there are now enough chapters of the manga to create an entire season, the wait for “Noragami” Season 3 could be over soon. This is if the rumors with regards to the show are proven true.
As things stand, there are reports that “Noragami” Season 3 will be coming out in 2019. However, with there being no trailers, no announcements, and no promotional materials released, this is questionable. Anime shows are usually marketed well before a new season arrives. With some of the biggest properties, a year or two is spent hyping it up before finally giving audiences what they want.
In the case of “Noragami” Season 3, it would need a substantial amount of time to both bring back its original fans and create new ones via its past seasons. This is why a 2019 release period would be unlikely.
