The 700-megawatt NordBalt electricity connection between Sweden and Lithuania disconnected Friday, Anadolu Agency reported.

LRT said initial reports it cited pointed to a failure at the converter station on the Swedish side. That account was described as an initial report of the cause.

Lithuania’s grid operator, Litgrid, told LRT that it activated reserves during the outage while electricity transmission to Lithuanian consumers remained stable. NordBalt entered service in 2016, Anadolu Agency reported.
