LOS ANGELES, May 25, 2016 -- NorthStar Moving®, the leading eco-luxury mover in California, announced today that it was awarded the "California Moving & Storage Association Move For Hunger Recognition Award 2016" by Move for Hunger for their commitment to fighting hunger.
The award is given to moving companies that go above and beyond to fight hunger in their greater community. NorthStar Moving was recognized for a variety of reasons. Since joining Move for Hunger in 2010, NorthStar Moving has collected 21,000 pounds of food, enough for 17,500 meals for those in their community. The company has also coordinated many food drives including their annual "Let's Send Hunger Packing!" food drive in partnership with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, which is taking place now. The Let's Send Hunger Packing drive feeds hungry children in Los Angeles and Orange County and runs through June 17. Donations are now being accepted at 28 Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage offices.
"This is not the first award we have given NorthStar Moving," said Move for Hunger Founder & Executive Director Adam Lowy. "In addition to food drives, NorthStar Moving truly embraces the Move For Hunger mission. They incorporate our program into their daily procedures and promote our program to their clients, asking them to donate food that otherwise would be thrown away. We select movers for this award who make it a priority to make Move for Hunger a part of everyday business. We look forward to continuing our partnership and watching as NorthStar Moving's hunger relief efforts continue to grow!"
"I am so overwhelmed that an organization that fights hunger everyday is recognizing our efforts," said NorthStar Moving Co-Founder Laura McHolm. "It truly takes a team of dedicated and caring people to raise food donations and orchestrate food drives. I am so grateful that our team at NorthStar Moving has such a big heart to continue our hunger relief efforts each and every year. I am thrilled by the award, but more importantly I hope the recognition will build excitement for this year's Let's Send Hunger Packing food drive and keep everyone donating to their local food banks throughout the year!"
