EDISON, N.J., Oct. 30, 2017 -- Today, the Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters (NRCC) announced its endorsement of Frank Gilliam for Atlantic City Mayor.
"I am honored to receive the endorsement of our brothers and sisters of the Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters,” said Gilliam. “At a time when Unions are being challenged on the federal and state levels, it gives me great pride to stand firmly in full support of the Carpenters Union. It is of great importance that we bring quality, well-paying jobs to our city and unions are important and essential towards achieving that goal."
The Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters takes the issue of endorsing elected official candidates seriously and only endorses candidates who hold the same values as we do of protecting and preserving workers’ rights. We only provide endorsements to candidates that support prevailing wage protections, encourage the use of Project Labor Agreements, fight 1099 Worker Misclassification and support fair wages and benefits for working people.
John Ballantyne, Executive Secretary-Treasurer of the NRCC, believes that Gilliam’s platform will help to grow and revitalize Atlantic City for its workers and citizens.
“We are pleased to endorse Frank Gilliam for Atlantic City Mayor, as he believes in supporting the middle class and using Union labor to help revitalize Atlantic City,” said Ballantyne. “As Atlantic City’s next Mayor, Gilliam will bring good paying construction jobs to the City, encourage more businesses to invest, bring in tourists to enjoy the City’s entertainment and help to improve the quality of life for its residents.”
