CAMPBELL, Calif., Jan. 31, 2018 -- Bitglass, the Next-Gen CASB company, today announced that Northwestern University will be deploying Bitglass’ security solution across their cloud footprint. Northwestern is one of the country’s leading research and academic institutions with over 20,000 students and 3,000 faculty members.
The team at Northwestern evaluated several cloud access security broker (CASB) solutions for their ability to secure mobile devices, prevent data loss, and control access, starting with the university’s Box and Office 365 environments.
“Bitglass proved to be the right solution for data and threat protection across our current and future cloud footprint," said Tom Murphy, Chief Information Security Officer, Northwestern University. “Bitglass’ agentless, real-time architecture balances security and compliance with the demanding needs of our faculty, medical school clinical staff and students.”
The university’s security and infrastructure teams required a solution that could adapt as the institution deploys additional cloud applications, protecting research data, protected health information, amongst other data types. Northwestern is also home to the Feinberg School of Medicine, a large medical school required to comply with the stringent HIPAA regulatory mandate.
Northwestern chose Bitglass to enable comprehensive data protection and cloud compliance. Only Bitglass was able to meet all of Northwestern’s requirements, including real-time data protection, visibility, threat protection, mobile security and identity management capabilities.
