Nova Southeastern University (NSU) is pleased to announce the topic of its Shepard Broad College of Law Annual Law Review symposium entitled “Entrepreneurship 2.0: Legal, Regulatory, and Economic Challenges to the Innovation Economy.” The symposium will be held Friday, Oct. 6, 2017 to address the intersection of law and business as it focuses on new technologies, ethics, and regulation. The conference will address the many changes facing the global economy, including workforce transformations, entrepreneurship, artificial intelligence, regulation, privacy, and security concerns brought on by the changes in technology and the legal regimes that govern these sectors.

Faculty members and experienced professionals in law and business are encouraged to submit proposals for paper presentations and panel discussions. The Nova Law Review Annual Symposium encourages an interdisciplinary approach to academics. The day-long event will take place in the Panza Maurer Law Library located in the Shepard Broad College of Law building on Nova Southeastern University’s Ft. Lauderdale campus.
According to NSU College of Law Dean Jon M. Garon, the topic on entrepreneurship and innovation is more pressing than ever. “Globalization and technological innovation are challenging social and political landscapes throughout the world. Fortunately, isolation and repudiation are giving way to a more thoughtful response,” noted Garon. “This symposium will explore those themes and provide a roadmap to help entrepreneurs and governments address these changes in a productive, thoughtful manner. New technologies can improve our regional economy and the quality of life, provided they are developed and deployed with care.”
The symposium is supported, in part, through the Sharon and Mitchell W. Berger Entrepreneur Law Clinic, dedicated to expanding both direct legal services to entrepreneurs and to enhancing entrepreneurial education in law, business, and science. The symposium is co-sponsored by the NSU Master of Science in Law featuring online education in Health Law, Employment, Education and Law & Policy (such as Cybersecurity Law. This innovative degree program provides front-line professionals with the skills and knowledge essential to operate in highly regulated industries.
