Novonix Signs Off-Take Agreement with Stellantis for Synthetic Graphite Supply
Australian battery manufacturer Novonix has entered into a binding off-take agreement with Stellantis to supply high-performance synthetic graphite material for electric vehicle (EV) batteries. Under the terms of the deal, Novonix will deliver at least 86,250 metric tons, with a target of 115,000 metric tons, of synthetic graphite from its Riverside facility in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The supply will support Stellantis’ North American battery cell manufacturing partners from 2026 to 2031.
The contract will utilize the remaining capacity of Novonix’s Riverside facility and include production from a planned greenfield facility. According to CEO Chris Burns, this new facility, located in the southeastern U.S., will initially produce 30,000 metric tons per annum (tpa), with plans to scale up to 75,000 tpa. This partnership marks a significant step forward in Novonix’s strategy to meet the growing demand for materials essential for EV battery production.
As the automotive industry shifts towards electrification, securing reliable and sustainable graphite supplies is crucial. This agreement positions Novonix to play a key role in Stellantis' EV battery supply chain, supporting the company’s ambitious goals for North American electric vehicle manufacturing.
