Despite how his actions and words might make him look like an unthinking buffoon who wins more out of brute force than anything else, Luffy actually thinks. In “One Piece” Chapter 938, he will realize that he cannot defeat Kaido as he currently is. This is why he will also need to become invincible and he will use the fighters being sent to him as a means of acquiring this ability.
As TheAnimeScrolls notes, the previous chapter of the manga saw Luffy getting yet another flashback. Just as the case when he was fighting Katakuri, this might just be a sign that he is going to get yet another ability to add to his already existing ones. This time, it’s going to be an invisible shield, which might just be featured in “One Piece” Chapter 938.
Luffy remarked in the previous chapter that his master essentially deflected attacks without any effort. This could be indicative of the same kind of ability that makes Kaido difficult to take down. After all, if he is surrounded by an invisible shield made of Haki that cannot be destroyed, he will be fine after taking a lot of attacks. Luffy could acquire the same ability in “One Piece” Chapter 938.
If so, he will then be in a position to resist Queen since he will no longer be afraid of the collar around his neck. From there, Luffy would then have more of a chance to defeat Kaido who took him down in their previous fight with just one hit.
Of course, none of this is assured, at this point and “One Piece” Chapter 938 might not even feature the ability at all. The only way to find out is to read the chapter when it is released on April 1. Either way, it’s going to be exciting.
