The battle between Luffy and Katakuri continues in “One Piece” episode 856. Only this time, Katakuri’s snack time gets the better of him and allows Luffy to gain some advantage.
“One Piece” episode 856 is titled “The Forbidden Secret — Katakuri’s Merienda” and it says a lot about what is happening next between the Charlotte commander and Luffy. The next episode will center on Katakuri’s “merienda,” a word which simply refers to snack time.
As seen in the “One Piece” episode 856 preview, Katakuri unleashes his Mirror Mochi attack. His idea is to end Luffy by burying him alive under all the mochi so he can finally have his snack.
In the manga where Katakuri’s merienda happened, the antagonist calmly told Luffy that he is going to die from suffocation. But, presumably because of Katakuri’s eagerness to have his snack, he overlooked Luffy’s next move. And this is where “One Piece” episode 856 gets exciting.

The trailer for “One Piece” episode 856 mentions a “forbidden shrine” where the patissiers delivered all the giant baked goods for Katakuri to consume. The preview says that even his siblings have never seen him eat and that is his “forbidden secret.”
While Katakuri hides in his shrine to eat, he does not realize that Luffy is eating his way out of all the mochi. This explains the bloated Luffy image in the “One Piece” episode 856 preview.
Despite the patissiers' attempt to mislead Luffy, the Straw Hats leader figures out that Katakuri is inside the shrine which, of course, he will later destroy. And this is how Katakuri’s torn open mouth, fangs, and gluttonous manner of eating will be unveiled in “One Piece” episode 856.
Katakuri is overwhelmingly enraged that Luffy knows about his secret, prompting him to mercilessly kill the patissiers. While it further fuels his desire to kill Luffy, it also reveals his weakness. “One Piece” episode 856, which will air on Oct. 7, is most likely ending with a glimpse of a Gear Fourth attack from Luffy.
