“One Punch Man” season 3 is, technically, still in limbo at this point. The situation could, however, change in the near future, especially after the release of another original animation in March.
‘One Punch Man’ season 3 renewed or canceled: Announcement of next installment is still elusive
Producers of the anime series kept its strategy of adding an OVA in every volume of the show’s Blu-ray/DVD copy. Volume 6 will complete “One Punch Man” season 2’s home media release, and it will arrive with another original animated content titled “The Zombieman Murder Case 2 ~A Chalet Amid the Blizzard, and the Ones Bothered by the Cold.” The first two minutes of the upcoming OVA is already available online. However, there is no English subtitle available as it is unclear if the season 2 Blu-ray/DVD will be sold outside Japan.
Season 2’ volume 6 will be shipped on March 27. The wait for “One Punch Man” season 3 after that will be much duller since it is unknown when fans will see new animated content again. On the other hand, with nothing else to expect from the franchise, it might also be the time for producers to announce the next season.
It is then not impossible for “One Punch Man” season 3 to be officially confirmed within the year. But the matter of its release date is a completely different story.
‘One Punch Man’ season 3 plot, production rumors: What to expect
While some fans may not be over yet with J.C.Staff’s work on season 2, it is possible that looking for a new studio to make season 3 might only cause a much longer hiatus. Those who believe that season 2 was not on par with the first installment’s animation quality have been demanding for “One Punch Man” season 3 to be produced by Madhouse. Others have also floated the name of the studio Bones. However, one good possibility is for the anime series to remain with J.C.Staff.
What is certain about “One Punch Man” season 3 is the plot. Season 2 concluded just at the beginning of the Monster Association Arc. It is interesting how much of the story arc will be covered in the next anime season since it is not yet completed in the manga series.
