The OnePlus 6T is one of the most anticipated phones coming out in 2018, and for good reason. While the company has yet to announce its official price, it’s likely that the OnePlus 6T’s value is going to be around the ballpark of its predecessor, which is around $499 to $529.
And even though it’s decently priced, the OnePlus 6T is still an incredible phone, so much so that it can trade blows with the Samsung S9 in some areas. Obviously, the S9 is still the superior phone, but given that OnePlus 6T will be selling at a much lower price, people looking for a decently priced smartphone with a high performance should gravitate towards the latter.
Of course, given the price, OnePlus 6T manufacturers did not include features that are highly valued by today’s consumers. One of them is that the smartphone does not have an IP67 or IP68 rating, which would have rendered it fully waterproof. At least, there is no report from the company saying it added this feature, Android Authority reported.
Smartphones with an IP67 rating can withstand submersion in up to 1 meter of water, while an IP68 rating can make them survive submersion by up to 1.5 meters. If the manufacturer had opted to add this feature to the OnePlus 6T, then it would have been a first for the company. As of now, however, the manufacturer has yet to announce its adoption for the smartphone, which means the OnePlus 6T will not have this feature.
Another feature that is likely not going to be on the OnePlus 6T is wireless charging. This component has been one of the most popular features on the smartphone market as it simply provides a lot of convenience to the user.
And even though the OnePlus 6T will sport a glass back as opposed to a metal one, its manufacturer still did not add wireless charging to the upcoming smartphone. A representative of the company has already told Business Insider that they don’t feel the need to add the feature and even a large number of its consumers aren’t demanding for wireless charging either.
The OnePlus 6T has a headphone jack, is waterproof but cannot be submerged in water, has a fingerprint scanner, and features a memory combination of 6GB/64GB or 8GB/128GB, depending on which a consumer chooses to purchase. Overall, this smartphone is a solid device that is priced lower than its competitors.
Granted, it had to sacrifice a couple of features, but it’s safe to say it can still dance along with those that are priced much higher. The OnePlus 6T is rumored to hit the market sometime in November, judging by past releases by the company.
