OnePlus has officially launched the Nord N20 5G and it is set to go on sale next week. Like its previous smartphone releases in the United States, the upcoming mid-range product will be sold exclusively at T-Mobile.
The company unveiled the Nord N20 5G through a press release on Tuesday, revealing its official technical specifications. The device will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 695, which has been advertised with a clocked speed of up to 2.2GHz with the octa-core Kryo 660 processor.
OnePlus did not provide specific details on Nord N20’s 5G capabilities. But it is worth noting that the Snapdragon 695 chip supports both sub-6GHz and mmWave bandwidths.
It has been announced for a while now that the Nord N20 5G display is only capable of delivering 60Hz refresh rate. On paper, that is a downgrade from the Nord N10 5G and Nord N200 5G, which both supported up to 90Hz refresh rate. In a previous interview with PCMag, though, OnePlus COO Kinder Liu suggested that the lower refresh rate was a compromise the company needed to take to use AMOLED display on its latest mid-range offering. Note that both the Nord N10 5G and N200 5G shipped with just LCD.
There is also a slight change in other display specs between the Nord N20 5G and its predecessors. The newly launched device sports a 6.43-inch FHD+ screen compared to the 6.49-inch display for both older phones mentioned.
Like previous mid-range phone models, there will be no different memory configurations for the Nord N20 5G. It only comes with 6GB RAM and an internal 128GB storage. But the phone will have a microSD slot to expand the memory to 512GB.
It will have three rear-facing sensors, including a 64MP main camera. The Nord N20 5G will also have a monochrome lens and a macro lens, but the press release did not mention specific specs for these cameras. As for the battery, the upcoming phone will be powered by a 4500mAh component with 33W fast charging.
Since this is a mid-range offering from OnePlus, people should not expect it to run the latest operating system from Android. The Nord N20 5G is confirmed to ship with Android 11 and OxygenOS skin, but it is unclear yet if it will get a later update to Android 12. The Nord N20 5G will go on sale starting Thursday, April 28 via T-Mobile in the U.S.
