The year is not over yet, especially for Oppo. The company is currently gearing up for its Inno Day conference this year, where its first foldable smartphone — officially named Oppo Find N — will be unveiled. But before that happens, supposed marketing renders for the device have already leaked online.
Oppo officially announced the Oppo Find N on Thursday in a blog post by Oppo chief product office and OnePlus CEO Pete Lau. He revealed that the company’s first foldable smartphone has been in the works for the past four years. Lau added that Oppo has invested “intense” research and development for the product and has gone through six generations of prototypes before coming up with the device that will be fully unveiled at Oppo’s Inno Day 2021 on Wednesday, Dec. 15.
Thanks to reliable leaker Evan Blass, tech fans do not have to wait a few days to see the full design of Oppo Find N. The overall design language is similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 3. The main screen folds inward, while there is a full secondary screen that can be used when the device is folded. Three rear-facing cameras are also spotted in the leak, and the camera bump design is the same as with previous Oppo Find-series phones.

One of the notable differences between the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Oppo Find N is that the latter’s edges appear to be curvier than Samsung’s flagship foldable smartphone. The leaked renders also show a hole-punch cutout for the selfie camera on the secondary screen. But it is unclear if Oppo has also placed more sensors on the main display.
In Lau’s blog post, the company exec briefly explains how the Oppo Find N would compare with previously released foldable smartphones. “With the Find N, we have solved the main pain points in previous foldable smartphones, such as the crease in the display and overall durability of the device, by inventing perhaps the best hinge and display designs available today,” Lau wrote.
The Oppo Find N technical specifications are still under wraps. But an Oppo device with model number PEUM00, suspected to be the foldable smartphone, recently appeared on Geekbench powered by the Snapdragon 888.
