Being recognized with an Edison Award has become one of the highest accolades a company can receive in the name of innovation and business. The award is named after Thomas Alva Edison (1847-1931) whose inventions, new product development methods and innovative achievements literally changed the world, garnered him 1,093 U.S. patents, and made him a household name around the world.
“Our judges recognized Orion Labs as a true innovator out of the many products in its category,” said Frank Bonafilia, executive director of the Edison Awards.
The ballot of nominees for the Edison Awards™ was judged by a panel of more than 3,000 leading business executives including past award winners, academics and leaders in the fields of product development, design, engineering, science and medicine.
Orion Labs’ award-winning product, Onyx, received the Silver Award in the Voice & Hearing Technology category. Onyx is a lightweight wearable voice badge that provides real-time voice communication to individuals or groups, across any distance. It pairs with smartphones to broadcast voice messages to other Onyx devices over cellular and wi-fi networks with the push of a button. With the mobile app, group members can see each other’s locations (if enabled) for quicker coordination.
Orion Labs continues to advance voice communication, improving their infrastructure and developing their evolving platform. Recently, the company announced it is expanding its Orion Voice Platform with enterprise-grade features, including a web-based administrative dashboard and advanced permissions management, to improve and secure voice communications for businesses of all sizes.
“We’re honored to be recognized by the Edison Awards as a leader in voice technology,” said Jesse Robbins. “At Orion Labs, we are committed to simplifying voice communication and will continue to deliver products and services that are powered by voice, to improve everyday lives.”
One of the evening’s many highlights was the presentation of the prestigious Edison Achievement Award to Astro Teller, Captain of Moonshots, X and Jeffrey R. Immelt, CEO, GE. The award honors innovation leaders and business executives who have made a significant and lasting contribution to technological advancements throughout their careers. The Edison Achievement Award serves as inspiration to future innovators and to the world at large.
