Orlando's premier downtown sports and entertainment destination, the Amway Center, will be renamed the Kia Center. The development marks a new era for sports and automotive enthusiasts alike.
According to PR Newswire, this momentous announcement coincides with Kia America's recent accomplishments and unveiling of their groundbreaking, 3-row, all-electric SUV, the Kia EV9.
A New Chapter Begins with Kia America's Partnership
Entering into this landmark partnership, Kia America will contribute to the rebranding efforts through various avenues. Visitors of the Kia Center will be greeted by new indoor and outdoor signage incorporating the iconic Kia logo.
Going beyond aesthetics, the Kia Center will also become a hub for sustainable transportation by installing electric vehicle (EV) charging stations. Sports and music fans can look forward to the Kia Terrace, an exclusive hospitality lounge designed to captivate automotive enthusiasts.
The Athletic noted that for over a decade, Amway Center has played an integral role in Orlando's cultural landscape. As the home of the National Basketball Association's Orlando Magic, the former Amway Center has been an iconic symbol in the city since opening its doors in 2010.
The naming rights were held by Amway, a company owned and operated by the DeVos family, who also owns the Orlando Magic. However, this new partnership with Kia America signifies an exciting and transformative chapter for the arena and the city.
Kia and Orlando Magic: Driving Partnership and Success
The Orlando Magic and Kia America share a history of partnership and success. Magic CEO Alex Martins expressed enthusiasm for the expanded collaboration, leveraging the NBA's widespread influence to promote Kia's brand message.
Kia's commitment to enhancing the fan experience extends beyond branding. In conjunction with the renaming, Kia will install electric vehicle charging stations at the Kia Center, highlighting their dedication to sustainable mobility solutions. This forward-thinking approach aligns with Kia's ambitious Plan S, an initiative to transform the company into a leading provider of innovative personal and business transportation solutions.
The Kia Center in Orlando is not the only venue to undergo a name change. The renaming of the Kia Forum in Los Angeles in 2022 solidified Kia's nationwide influence in the entertainment industry. This strategic move coincided with the North American debut of the award-winning electric utility vehicle, the EV6, underscoring Kia's commitment to environmentally friendly mobility.
