“Outlander” Season 4 is almost here and there have been plenty of surprising revelations about the show already. Fans of the book will already be well ahead of the rest, but even they might find a few of the developments surprising. For one thing, one of the most pivotal figures of the show has said that “Outlander” Season 4 will be their last. There’s also the uncertain future waiting for the show’s main characters.
In a rather unfortunate revelation, it would seem that the show’s costume designer, Terry Dresbach, has said that she will be leaving the show. Apparently, Dresbach has been quite worried about her health for some time now, Express.co.uk reports. This is why she has decided that “Outlander” Season 4 would be her last time working on the show.
It would seem that the stress and exhaustion of creating all of the beautiful period clothing featured on the show have simply taken its toll on her. This isn’t surprising for anyone who has seen the costumes that Dresbach has managed to create for the show. For this year’s Emmy awards, costume is the only category in which the series was nominated. This makes her departure even more heartbreaking and leaves a lot of questions for “Outlander” Season 5.
Speaking of “Outlander” Season 4, the end of last season saw Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) washing up on the shores of Georgia in America. Speaking to Radio Times, Caitriona Balfe revealed that this is going to be a particularly interesting season for her character. As someone who has lived in the U.S. in the 20th century, returning to the country in its infancy would certainly throw Claire off a bit.
“When she left America it was at the height of the civil rights movement and so it’s a very interesting thing to have her come at the inception of the United States of America, as we know it today,” the actress explains. “It’s very interesting to watch her wrap her mind around how to be a pioneer but also knowing what she knows and having the respect she does for the Native American culture.”
“Outlander” Season 4 is set to premiere in November. It will first air on STARZ and will be available for streaming via Amazon Prime Video.
