ATLANTA, April 27, 2017 -- Pace Water System, Inc. is operating more efficiently and improving customer service with the Mi.Net® system, Mueller Systems’ advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) network. The utility has begun installing the system and will continue to deploy it across its entire service area.
Pace Water System evaluated multiple AMI technologies and selected the Mi.Net system due to its reliability, user-friendly software interface and system support capabilities offered through Mueller Systems’ Network Operations Center. The utility serves one of the fastest-growing regions in northwest Florida, supplying water to more than 53,000 residents.
“Mueller Systems’ AMI system and remote disconnect meters are proving to be tremendous assets in helping us manage our water system more efficiently and better serve our customers,” said Damon Boutwell, PE, general manager of Pace Water System. “We’re able to automate routine tasks, such as meter reading, allowing our staff to focus on more critical issues, including fixing leaks.”
The Mi.Net system provides real-time data on system performance and customer usage, giving the utility the tools it needs to better manage staffing resources and enhance customer service by identifying issues before they escalate.
Pace Water System is also installing more than 1,000 of Mueller Systems’ 420 Remote Disconnect Meters (RDMs), which enable the utility to manage water service remotely rather than at the point of service. The two-way Mi.Net AMI system connects meters, leak detection sensors and control devices into an efficient wireless network. With Mueller Systems’ advanced RDMs, Pace Water System can reduce the number of utility truck rolls and enhance customer service for the large population of seasonal residents in the utility’s northwest Florida service area.
“Pace Water System is committed to providing the highest level of service to its customers, and we are proud to be their long-term technology partner,” said Hassan Ali, vice president and general manager of Mueller Systems. “Our goal is to help utilities implement smart water solutions with confidence by giving them a flexible technology platform, advanced measurement and control devices, and the client support services they need to make data-driven decisions for managing their water systems.”
