SPC Samlip South Korean food and beverage manufacturing company, has brought its Paris Baguette bakery-cafe brand to Canada. The move is part of its global expansion goal.
The first Paris Baguette store in Canada was inaugurated in Toronto, and SPC Samlip is reportedly planning to open seven additional branches in the country before this year ends. The company revealed the opening of the first Paris Baguette outlet in the region on Thursday, March 23.
With the new store in Canada, the bakery-cafes global presence has now expanded to 10 countries. As per The Korea Economic Daily, SPC set up the first Paris Baguette store on the first floor of Toronto’s Yonge Sheppard Centre. With a floor area of 214 square meters, the store can accommodate about 20 dining customers.
It is a self-service outlet that offers a variety of food items, including popular strawberry cream cakes, sandwiches, and salads. Drinks are also available to complete the meal.
Paris Baguette has opened many locations overseas, but these are directly owned by SPC Samlip. In the case of its first Canadian bakery store outlet, it was opened via a franchise agreement. It was noted that SPC has been applying the business knowledge it has accumulated through its franchise business in the U.S. to expand in other areas as well.
The planned opening of seven additional stores in Canada this year will increase Paris Baguette’s presence in the North American region. This will also bring the number of its stores to over 1,000 by 2030.
"Canada is a strategically important market for us due to its position in the English-speaking world and its coverage of the French cultural sphere," He Jin Soo, SPC Samlip’s chief executive officer who also manages Paris Baguette’s global business, said in a statement.
Darren Tipton, Paris Baguette North America’s CEO, further said in a press release, "The expansion of our bakery cafés into Canada marks an exciting period of growth for Paris Baguette and we can't wait to celebrate moments of joy with our guests as we establish our neighborhood bakery cafés in Toronto and bring our vision to life throughout Canada."
