‘Peaky Blinders’ Season 5 Air Date, News & Update: Is Al Capone Appearing in 5th Installment?

“Peaky Blinders” Season 5 just recently started filming and a few big Hollywood names have been announced as part of the fifth installment. Anya Taylor-Joy, Sam Claflin and Emmett J Scanlan are among those who have been added to the cast, although their exact roles haven’t been revealed yet, The Daily Express reported.

After Tommy (Cillian Murphy) dealt with Lucca (Adrien Brody) and Alfie (Tom Hardy) in the previous installment, the boss of the Peaky Blinders gang will be carrying the weight of his new position. “Peaky Blinders” Season 5 will have the cunning leader expand his gang’s influence by using his power as an MP to create more opportunities.

It’s already been revealed that Tommy wants his Shelby Company to get a foothold on American soil. “Peaky Blinders” Season 5 will be an interesting storyline to follow since Al Capone is also operating during this time as well. Will the audience see a showdown or a merger between these two ruthless mobs?

Series star Paul Anderson said it would be a great idea but show creator Steven Knight explained the plotline of “Peaky Blinders” Season 5 will not touch upon this area. Instead, Tommy will be navigating the world of politics and using his new influence to bolster his mob’s prowess. As a new MP, he now has the power to shield his gang by using government forces, the same forces that are out to get the Peaky Blinders crime group.

Aside from a new plotline and cast members, “Peaky Blinders” Season 5 will also be transferred from BBC Two to BBC One. The decision comes amidst the success that the fourth installment brought in.

"’Peaky Blinders’ is world class drama at the top of its game and the time has arrived for it to move to the UK's biggest channel. Steven Knight's epic storytelling is authentic and utterly compelling and I want to give it the chance to be enjoyed by an even broader audience on BBC One," said Charlotte Moore, director of BBC Content. As for when “Peaky Blinders” Season 5 is going to air, nothing has been announced just yet given that filming has just recently begun.

But judging by how Knight handled the previous installment, “Peaking Blinders” Season 5 might be slated for release sometime on July 2019. The assumption is based on the length of time (eight months) it took the fourth season to air as it started filming in March 2017 and aired in November of that year.
