‘Penny Dreadful’ season 3’s episode 8 will find Ethan and Dracula fighting it out following a confrontation about Vanessa’s disappearance.
The synopsis for the incoming episode posted on Showtime stated, “Ethan, Sir Malcolm and Kaetenay return to London. Dr. Seward discovers Renfield's secret. Meanwhile, Ethan heads out in search of Dr. Frankenstein. And Lily reveals a heartbreaking story from Brona Croft's past.”
Episode 8’s promo begins with Ethan (Josh Hartnett), Sir Malcolm (Timothy Dalton) and Kaetenay (Wes Studi) docking in a deserted pier. Vanessa is heard in the background saying, “All light will end and the world will live in darkness.”
Ethan eventually meets Dracula (Christian Camargo) in the fog seemingly haunted by evil entities. Dracula proceeds to tell him, “The creatures of the night. What music they make.” When Ethan confronts him about Vanessa’s whereabouts on gunpoint, Dracula reveals, “She has made her choice… If you truly love her, that ought to be enough for you.”
In the preceding episode, entitled “Ebb Tide”, numerous secrets were finally thrust out in the open. According to the recap on TV.com, episode 7 opened to Lily (Billie Piper) attending to personal matters at a gloomy cemetery. She was revealed to have had a baby who died back when she was alive as Brona Croft.
Things proceeded smoothly for Lily and her new group of angry female recruits until Dorian (Reeve Carney) expressed his discontent with her plans. He enlisted the help of Dr. Frankenstein (Harry Treadaway) to abduct Lily and zap her back to submission by all means necessary.
Ethan also realized that he was in love with Vanessa (Evan Green) and returned to London following Kaetenay’s visions of her being in grave danger.
Vanessa, on the other hand, finally learned that her lover Dr. Alexander Sweet is actually her predator Dracula. This revelation led to a confrontation between the two wherein Dracula declared his love for her. Things took an interesting turn when Vanessa submitted herself to be bitten instead of killing him off.
‘Penny Dreadful’ season 3’s episode 8, entitled “Perpetual Night”, is scheduled to premiere on Showtime on June 19.
