PepsiCo's Tropicana brand of orange juice drink announced it is removing the "AI" from its name. In its new marketing stunt, the company used the Artificial Intelligence (AI) trend to highlight the value and importance of "natural," especially in food.
All-Natural Beverage Products
According to CNN Business, Tropicana's new promo campaign emphasizes that its juice products do not contain any artificial ingredients. The brand said its Tropicana line has "nothing artificial, and never has been anything artificial"; thus, it has ditched the "AI" in its name, so now it is called "Tropcn" for a limited time.
The creative marketing tactic also comes as Tropicana seeks to boost its sales again. The brand has been around for decades, and the demand today is not as high as it was in the past. Thus, riding on AI's popularity is seen as a brilliant idea to get consumers' attention while offering them juices without artificial ingredients.
Neil Saunders, GlobalData Retail's retail analyst and managing director, commented, "Tropicana remains a big brand in juice, but it has been losing market share over time - both to private label products and to niche brands which are seen as being more natural."
Promoting Naturalness Via "Tropcn" Juice
Tropicana said there are new developments in technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) every week in this era. And every recently developed AI advancement seems to bring people another step closer to the artificial world and move further from what is natural.
Thus, to highlight the natural ingredients in Tropicana Pure Premium orange juice, it is releasing a limited-edition package of the "Tropcn" Pure Premium orange juice.
"Our limited-edition run of 'Tropcn' orange juice bottles represents our ongoing commitment to delivering the highest quality 100% orange juice to Americans," chief executive officer of Tropicana Brands Group's North American business unit, Monica McGurk, said in a press release. "Since 1954, Tropicana has been at the forefront, innovating ways to bring fresh-tasting orange juice from natural oranges to breakfast tables nationwide. Artificial just isn't in our DNA."
