Pepsico's Doritos snack brand announced the release of "Doritos Silent" software, which will allow gamers to focus more on the game. The company introduced AI-augmented technology to stop the crunching sounds made by players when they play while eating Doritos.
The new crunch cancellation technology can remove the crunching sound that is being caught in the microphone while gaming. They said that unnecessary sounds often distract the game and affect the gamers' performance, but with the new tech, these "noises" will be canceled.
Crunch Sounds is a Common Issue for Gamers
According to the Daily Star, many gamers said that the "crunch" of a crisp is the worst sound they hear from other players when gaming. Three in every ten individuals said that their performance is affected by the crunching sound they hear on their headsets. They explained that the munching sound is really annoying, so they want that out.
Gamers usually eat Doritos while playing with other people online, but many do not want to hear that crunching noise every time a player bites on tortilla chips. Thus, the groundbreaking "Doritos Silent" is considered a big gift to gamers around the world.
Development of Doritos Silent
Pepsico's Doritos was able to have the new "Doritos Silent" crunch-canceling device via cooperation with Smooth Technology. The firm is a leading brand in electronic and interactive design, and it created the technology for the snack maker. The company said it only took six months to develop the product after analyzing more than 5,000 sounds of crunch.
"The connection between Doritos fans and the gaming community is undeniable. Both boldly and unapologetically embrace their individual flavors," Pepsico's global marketing head, Fernando Kahane, said in a press release. "'Doritos Silent' recognizes this bond and demonstrates the brand's continued commitment to innovation and elevating the experience for gamers who choose Doritos."
"Working with Doritos to create this cutting-edge technology has been an incredible journey. We all know that gamers love Doritos, but that unmistakable crunch can often disrupt those intense gaming moments," Smooth Technology's lead developer, Dylan Fashbaugh, also commented. "With 'Doritos Silent,' we have worked to ensure gamers can enjoy the crunch of Doritos without disturbing their fellow players, making for a better gaming experience."
Meanwhile, the "Doritos Silent" is now available for download from Dorito's website. These are for PC headsets and are free for all players.
