Summer is nearly at an end, but Xiaomi is still maintaining its silence about the Pocophone F2. This is despite the fact that the mid-range market has constantly been asking the company when the sequel will arrive.
Indeed, Head of Pocophone Global Alvin Tse knows all too well how it’s like being hounded by people waiting for the device. One would only look at Tse’s Twitter feed to see the steady stream of Pocophone F2 questions hurled at every tweet he makes.
Tse previously said that part of the reason why they’re maintaining their silence about the device was because they didn’t want to comment about speculations surrounding it. Indeed, the web has been rife with rumors about the Pocophone F2 ranging from its release date to the specs that it will supposedly have.
Pocophone F2 may be outfitted with the Snapdragon 855 Plus
And due to Xiaomi’s silence, it’s difficult to tell which of these claim holds weight. Perhaps the most believable among them is that the Pocophone F2 will be given the Snapdragon 855 Plus chip.
It can be recalled that its predecessor was outfitted with the latest processor in the market, an inclusion that heavily contributed to its massive success last year. And speaking of its processor, there are also rumors going around that it’s due to the Snapdragon 855 plus why the Pocophone F2’s release has been delayed, TechRadar reported.
Apparently, the handset can be expected to arrive once the processor’s price sees a considerable dip. Xiaomi decided to release the Pocophone F1 when the Snapdragon 845 was eight months old. Following this pattern, there’s a possibility that the Pocophone F2 will be released on March next year since the Snapdragon 855 Plus hit the shelves this July.
Pocophone F2 and its rumored upgrades
As for what the rumors are saying about the upgrades of the sequel, its camera, screen, and body will likely be seeing an improvement. The front-facing snapper will supposedly sport a hole-punch design, moving away from the notch. The display will be OLED. And the body will change from plastic to glass to give the Pocophone F2 a fancier feel.
Of course, with no confirmation from Xiaomi, it’s best to take this with a grain of salt. But one thing is certain; the Pocophone F2 will not be canceled as has been confirmed by Xiaomi India Head of Marketing Anuj Sharma.
