The Pocophone F2 is still unconfirmed despite its predecessor already setting up the stage for its arrival last year. Even the smartphone’s name still remains unknown right now, although most are simply calling it the Pocophone F2.
So when is it going to arrive? Well, since the Pocophone F1 was released in September last year, the Pocophone F2 could arrive at a similar date.
And if recent movement from Xiaomi is any indication, then the Chinese phone manufacturer might be gearing up for it. For those who have been monitoring this story, they may already know that the Pocophone F2’s predecessor – particularly the 64GB variant – has its price reduced, Business Times reported.
Pocophone F2 still being evaluated by Xiaomi
But it’s also worth mentioning that the 128GB and the 256GB versions still maintains their original prices, so this development doesn’t necessarily carry a lot of weight. There’s also the claim by 91Mobiles (via India Today) that Xiaomi is still figuring out how the Pocophone F2 will co-exist with the upcoming Redmi K20 and K20 Pro.
It was widely reported that both devices are one and the same, with their names changing once the Redmi K20 is introduced to other regions. But if the aforementioned claim holds true, then that speculation might be off the mark after all. The problem here is how Xiaomi will put a distinction between the two handsets. 91Mobiles claim that the Pocophone F2 will sport the same chipset – the Snapdragon 855 processor – that has been outfitted for the Redmi K20.
July 15 a significant date for the Pocophone F2
So where does everything stands now? Most don’t really know on account that Xiaomi has been reticent about the Pocophone F2 and what their plan for the series is. The good news is that the Redmi K20 will be coming out in India on July 15.
If it maintains its name, then it’s safe to assume that the Pocophone F2 and the Redmi K20 are not the same devices, which means that the Pocophone F2 might be coming out in September. If it comes out at all, that is. With Redmi K20 covering all the necessary upgrade for the Pocophone F1, Xiaomi will have to find a way to provide the Pocophone F2 with a feature that would separate it from the Redmi K20. So the mid-range market will simply have to wait nearly two weeks to see what the Redmi K20 will be called once it hits the Indian market.
