The Polish jobless rate is expected to have risen a bit in December. According to a Societe Generale research report, the unemployment rate is likely to have come in higher at 8.3 percent in December from 8.2 percent in November. The projection is consistent with the recent Labor Ministry data and market projections. The seasonally-adjusted jobless rate is likely to rise as there is less demand for seasonal employees in winter, noted Societe Generale.
The number of jobless people in December has risen by 20,000 and there were 88,700 job offers recorded. The jobless rate is expected to continue its seasonal rise, peaking at 8.8 percent in January and February, and then to return to its falling pattern, influenced by optimistic developments on the economic growth and labor market.
“We believe that the unemployment rate will stabilize below 8.0 percent in the second half of the year”, added Societe Generale.
