There were reports that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been contemplating divorce. It was said that the former “Suits” actress could not stand the royal ways and her duties as part of the British Royal Family, so she is willing to break her marriage from the prince.
While such divorce reports are unconfirmed, the possibility that it could happen in the future is there. Thus, when Meghan and Prince Harry, really divorce, she will not be able to use her current title anymore. So, what her title would be after the split?
Meghan’s title will change
Currently, Meghan Markle is being called Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Sussex but when she divorced Prince Harry, although she will not return to being called just Ms. Markle. Like Fergie Ferguson and Princess Diana, she will be stripped of the HRH title and likely to be called just Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.
In case Kate Middleton breaks up with Prince William, it will be the same case with her and would be called Kate, Duchess of Cambridge. This is because the HRH title is only for the wives of the princes.
The divorce rumors on Meghan and Prince Harry
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have long been reported to be splitting up. Even if they are married for just less than two years, the divorce rumors are cropping up already. In fact, New Idea reported earlier this year that with the Duchess of Sussex having many enemies including her own family members, her marriage to Prince Harry is turning into a disaster, so the divorce was being brought up.
“Senior royals and palace officials are in crisis talks over what might happen if their marriage ended,” the tipster allegedly told the publication. “Everyone can’t believe how the tide has turned – that they went from being so loved by the public, to Meghan making enemies left, right and center. It’s a disaster.”
The palace has been denying the divorce news, and it has stopped addressing such rumors too. There is no solid proof that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are on the verge of divorce or considering it but still, like what was mentioned, when their marriage indeed ended up in divorce, she will definitely lose her HRH title although she can opt to still live near the Buckingham Palace.
