Prince William and Kate Middleton are currently dealing with yet another cheating rumors involving the latter’s aristocratic friend, Rose Hanbury. While there’s no hard evidence about the claim, multiple gossip outlets covered the story, adding their own spin on it in the guise of unnamed sources.
The rumor was first sparked by The Sun when it reported that Kate Middleton instructed Prince William that she wanted Hanbury “phased out” of their circle. Other tabloids followed shortly after with the Daily Mail, In Touch, and Radar Online publishing stories that are completely unsubstantiated, Slate reported.
When the rumor exploded, the royal family apparently took action against a yet-to-be-named British publication through the services of law firm Harbottle and Lewis. One of the letters supposedly outlined that the outlet violated Article 8 of the European Convention to Human Rights. Former royal editor of The Sun Duncan Larcombe shared his opinion about this development with The Daily Beast.
“The use of a legal letter by [Prince] William as a future king is very much a move of last resort. If the stories of Kate [Middleton] freezing Rose out are true, then whatever caused the falling out must have been very serious” Larcombe said.
To spice things further, reporter Nicole Cliffe tweeted that Prince William cheating on Kate Middleton was the reason for his feud with Prince Harry. Cliffe speculated that the younger prince told his older brother that unfaithfulness is exactly what destroyed their childhood.
Amidst the noise, the Kensington Palace remains mum about the matter and it’s expected they’ll maintain their silence until everything blows over. It’s also worth noting that other reliable publications like PEOPLE haven’t covered this story yet, which is a strong indication that this rumor is nothing more than… well, a rumor. As for other news involving Prince William and Kate Middleton, most of it revolves around parenthood and the anticipation of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s first born.
