The rumor accusing Prince William cheating on Kate Middleton still persists despite lack of evidence on the claim. Of course, with such a juicy angle to work from, gossip tabloids are quick to fan the flames of the narrative, often times adding their spin to the story to attract more traffic to their site.
The latest publication that covered this story is Globe (via Gossip Cop). As the tabloid would have it, Kate Middleton supposedly “collapse” inside her parent’s house as she couldn’t bear the idea of Prince William cheating on her.
Of course, since it’s Globe that’s peddling the story, it’s best to take it with a grain of salt. The publication is well-known for creating false stories about celebrities, and it’s highly likely that it's lying yet again with this Prince William and Kate Middleton piece.
This is especially true since Globe isn’t providing substantial evidence to support its claim, hiding once more behind a supposed source that is privy with the events taking place at Kensington Palace. This Prince William and Kate Middleton story were first sparked in March when The Sun wrote an article claiming that the latter wants to “phase out” Rose Hanbury from their circle, Slate reported.
Hanbury was an unknown name before The Sun placed her on the spotlight even though she’s married to David Rocksavage, the Marquess of Cholmondeley. Returning to the story, The Sun said that Kate Middleton wants to cut ties with Hanbury for an unspecified reason. While this was harmless at first, it was later picked up by other gossip outlets, adding more to the story, and ultimately devolve into Prince William having an affair with Hanbury.
And since Kensington Palace refused to respond to the rumor, several publications were quick to point out that cheating may have been the reason for Kate Middleton’s decision. However, months after Prince William was accused of infidelity, nothing substantial has surfaced to support this claim. But this doesn’t stop the rumor mill from churning out more stories about the royal couple since a scandal this big – while unsubstantiated – is attracting a lot of traffic to their sites. For their part, it seems that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge aren’t affected by the rumor, with their attention now partially taken by the addition of Meghan Markle’s newborn son, PEOPLE reported.
