A stunning Victorian diamond bracelet which was given as a gift to Princess Margaret on her 21st birthday will be auctioned on July 10, 2020.
The bracelet, said to be a favorite of Queen Elizabeth II's younger sister, will be part of Sotheby’s Magnificent Jewels auction in Hong Kong and is expected to fetch a staggering amount of between $49,000 to $64,500 (£39,000 - £51,500).
The bracelet is made up of old-cut and rose-cut diamonds that is formed into a cluster of flowers and surrounded by a royal blue enamel.
The jewel was crafted by T.S Dismore & Son in 1842. In 1951, it was re-boxed by Gerrard, the former crown jeweller. He inscribed it with the words "crowned M" and "21".
It was, however, unclear who gave it to Princess Margaret for her birthday but what was clear is that it was her favorite having worn it for the most part of her life.
In fact, according to the Daily Express, she did not remount the bracelet which she did with the rest of her other jewelry and kept it in its original form.
Aside from being known as Queen Elizabeth II's "rebel sister" Princess Margaret was also known for her love of sparkling jewelry.
The bracelet was part of Princess Margaret’s impressive collection of jewelry which the public got a glimpse of in 2006 when 192 pieces of her jewelry were auctioned by Christie’s.
This will be the third time that Princess Margaret's bracelet will be put into auction. The first time was at Christie's where it fetched £48,000 ($60,000). And, it was auctioned for the second time in 2017 At Boningtons in Epping, Essex.
Sotheby did not name who the bracelet came from and only marked it as coming from the collection of a gentleman.
