This Wednesday morning, fans of luxury fashion brand Christian Dior and the rest of the world have been notified of Creative Director Raf Simons’ departure. The designer, according to his statement, cites personal reasons as to why he is leaving the French fashion house.
“It is a decision based entirely and equally on my desire to focus on other interests in my life, including my own brand, and the passions that drive me outside my work. Christian Dior is an extraordinary company, and it has been an immense privilege to write a few pages of this magnificent book,” part of Simon’s statement read.
Simons, who has also worked at fashion house Jil Sander, was known for his minimalist designs, Papermag said.
WWD, which cited industry sources, have said Simon’s successor has yet to be identified, and the company is on a manhunt to fill the gap left by the famous designer. The sources also disclosed that Simons’ departure was also due to the disagreement over his new employment contract.
