Following the success of “Army of the Dead,” Zack Snyder is working on a new Netflix project called “Rebel Moon.” The American film director is known for large stories, and fans anticipate that the upcoming epic space opera picture will be complicated and spectacular enough to compete with the Star Wars franchise in terms of quality and entertainment.
To begin, “Rebel Moon” was inspired by Akira Kurosawa's works and the “Star Wars” saga. In reality, the picture began development as a Star Wars film, which Zack offered to Lucasfilm after the Walt Disney firm purchased the film and television production firm in 2012.
“Rebel Moon” was revealed to be a two-part picture in April, with both parts originally scheduled to be filmed back-to-back. “Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire” is the first film, while “Rebel Moon - Part Two: The Scargiver” is the second. Here is everything we know so far about the upcoming “Rebel Moon” film.
‘Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire’ Release Date
The imminent “Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire” will premiere on Netflix on December 22, 2023, with a limited theater distribution planned. A second installment is expected, although no release date has been set as of this writing. The sci-fi picture will also have a limited theatrical release in the United States on December 15, 2023, per Netflix.
“Rebel Moon” is intended to be its own story, which Zack intends to grow into its own Star Wars-like universe. However, it is unknown what the sequels will cover, but they may include the genuine "rebel moon" because the filmmaker previously stated that the namesake planet will not appear in the first installment.
