‘Red Dead Redemption 2’ Rumors, News, Updates: Private Press Demo Is Testbed for First Impressions?

There is a lot riding on the success of Rockstar’s “Red Dead Redemption 2,” and while it’s expected to be a good game, the scarcity of gameplay demos has made it difficult to gauge the worth of the game. If recent rumors are to be believed, though, it seems a private press event will see an exclusive gameplay demo of the game. This could be a testbed for what the general reaction of the community will be towards the game.

These days, it’s not impossible for a beloved game developer to drop the ball on an equally renowned franchise. “Mass Effect: Andromeda” proved this without question. In the case of “Red Dead Redemption 2,” a private press event could be just the thing needed to see if the developers are going in the right direction. This development came via a Reddit discussion featuring an Instagram post that has since been deleted.

Other indications that a private press event involving the game is in the works have also been popping up, Gaming Bolt recently reported, but nothing has been officially confirmed. Even with photos of merchandise tied to “Red Dead Redemption 2” circulating social media, this doesn’t mean much unless Rockstar itself confirms their legitimacy.

It’s worth noting that with the upcoming game being one of the most highly anticipated, and thus most hyped-up upcoming titles, expectations for “Red Dead Redemption 2” are extremely high. As such, the stakes could not be higher for the developers to deliver a solid performance. Anything less than excellent could see the franchise crash and burn like so many others have in the past.

A private showcase could give Rockstar the wiggle room it needs to make the necessary changes if the impressions expressed are not favorable. This could save “Red Dead Redemption 2” from following in the footsteps of games that failed to deliver on their promised greatness when it launches on Oct. 26.
