More Android phones are anticipated to launch in the first quarter of 2022, including the Redmi K50 series. The Xiaomi sub-brand has yet to announce its next flagship lineup, but a couple of leaks have recently appeared in the wild. Aside from hinting at a potentially imminent launch, the render images also show some design changes.
The Redmi K50 Pro was the first model to appear in a leak from Steve “OnLeaks” Hemmerstoffer and Zouton that showed a camera bump different from its predecessor. The Redmi K40 series features a pill-shared camera bump on the back, but this year’s lineup is expected to have a rectangular hump with rounded corners.
Render images of the regular Redmi K50 later appeared in a report on Bestopedia with the same design tweak. In both models, the three cameras are arranged in a triangle. Some fans quickly noticed that the design is almost identical to the camera bump of the Vivo iQOO 7.

Some of the rumored technical specifications for the Redmi K50 and Redmi K50 Pro from both publications are similar. The devices are expected to sport 6.6-inch flat displays and to be powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 with the Android 12 operating system. Base configurations for both models are expected to have 6GB RAM.
Zouton says the Redmi K50 Pro could have bigger RAM options with 128GB and 256GB storage variants, while Bestopedia only mentioned a 64GB storage for the regular Redmi K50. The reports do not agree with the devices’ battery capacities as well. The Pro model is anticipated with a 4700mAh battery, while the regular phone is rumored to offer a 5000mAh capacity. But both devices are expected to support up to 120W fast charging. Both are anticipated to have a 64MP main camera.
There are conflicting reports on the phones’ release date. Zouton said the Redmi K50 Pro could be released in mid-2022. Bestopedia, on the other hand, said the regular Redmi K50 could be announced in late March with a retail launch in early April.
