A total of 11 retail industry experts — including well-known consultants, analysts, researchers and retailers — have shared their expertise and predictions for 2016 and beyond. The report also offers reflections on 2015’s prognostications with surprising candor and comments related to past, present and future insights. Some key topics include: omnichannel, analytics, optimization, mobile payment and commerce, data security imperatives and the importance of social media relevancy.
“Retail TouchPoints is a valuable resource for retailers and solution providers looking to pinpoint the latest information on retail research, security and trends,” said Debbie Hauss, Editor-In-Chief of Retail TouchPoints. “Our readers know they are getting expert insight that will help move their businesses forward, which is why the 2016 Outlook Guide is a great tool for any type of industry executive.”
Some of the 2016 Outlook Guide contributors assessed the accuracy of their predictions from last year. Comparing her 2015 predictions to the year in retrospect, Pam Goodfellow from Prosper Insights & Analytics noted:
- Potential data breaches and the security of personal and financial information continue to be top-of-mind concerns for consumers.
- Consumers didn’t lose trust in retailers over the past year, but there certainly wasn’t a growing faction of shoppers with confidence in retail data security either.
- More than half of device owners currently cite “someone accessing my personal information” (62.3%) or “someone accessing my financial data” (51.6%) as top worries over location (45.4%) or online behavior (42.5%) tracking.
A closer look at the full report illustrates the experts’ opinions on predictions that may or may not have panned out and how they see these and other issues developing in 2016.
