Billionaire entrepreneur and bitcoin enthusiast, Richard Branson, is going to host "Bitcoin Summit" to bring "the greatest minds in cryptocurrency" under one roof to discuss bitcoin and the underlying blockchain technology on his personal private island next month.
The event will feature some prominent figures from the industry, including, Hernando De Soto, president of the Institute for Liberty and Democracy, Wall Street Journal senior columnist Michael J Casey and Matthew Bishop, US business editor for The Economist. It will be held from 25th to 28th May on Necker Island in the British Virgin Islands.
Branson has previously invested in payment processor BitPay and accepted bitcoin for Virgin Galactic, the space travel enterprise.
"Come visit with Sir Richard Branson on his private island for a set of intimate discussions highlighting critical issues and solutions and to lay out the framework for a world where the humankind is fully benefiting from the amazing technology behind the blockchain", the event's welcome message said.
