“Rick and Morty” season 4 is one of the most anticipated animated shows but sadly, its premiere is really taking a long time. The show is known for taking long breaks and although most fans do not lose interest and they just continue to wait, releasing new episodes early is a big treat to everyone.
This is why when showrunners Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon said that there will be no more time gaps between seasons, fans immediately expressed their excitement and approval. The announcement came shortly after they received an order of 70 episodes for “Rick and Morty” season 4 and beyond.
“We‘re super excited that, for the first time ever, we’re locked in, we know what the future is, we have job security,” Polygon quoted “Rick and Morty” season 4’s showrunner Roiland as saying. ”Harmon is in great spirits, we have a great writer’s room. We want the episodes to stay good, but we do also want to try to turn them around a little quicker now that we have this big order, I think it gives us the ability to be faster.”
He added, “We’re not going to do these long breaks, these chasms in between seasons anymore. We’re going to schedule vacation time and just keep the machine going. It’s going to be really cool.”
Now, for “Rick and Morty” season 4’s cast, it is predicted that everyone will remain in the show. This means that Justin Roiland will continue to be Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith while Chris Parnell will still be Morty’s dad, Jerry and Sarah Chalke as Morty's mother and Beth, Rick's daughter. Morty’ sister Summer is also expected to be played by Spencer Grammer for the fourth season in a row.
Finally, for the plot of “Rick and Morty” season 4, CBR suggested that while Adult Swim or the producers have not revealed the storyline for the upcoming installment, the story will continue after Beth and Jerry reconciled. However, the outlet predicted that the peace in the Smith family will not last long as Rick may launch something that may drag everyone into trouble again. Also, Mr. Poopybutthole will return with his family and that is something to look forward to.
