Ricoh Imaging Corp has released its GR IIIx Urban Edition high-end digital compact camera with a unique exterior finish made possible by the application of a series of intricate coating processes for 136,800 yen.
The camera body is treated with a metallic gray finish and accentuated by an eye-catching navy-blue ring that encircles the lens barrel.
The procedure improves camera hold for better operability while also giving the camera a distinctive appearance and smooth texture.
The camera features Snap Distance Priority mode as a new exposure setting.
Once the preferred distance for taking pictures and the preferred depth of focus are chosen in advance, the camera enables the user to quickly and easily memorize these settings. The DOF3 setting is particularly useful for quick snapshot shooting since it is programmed to choose the aperture that provides the depth of field needed in pan-focus photography.
There is also a new focus mode, Auto Area AF, which operates only in nine focus zones around the center of the image field, preventing the camera from focusing on unintended elements, such as the ground in the foreground.
The shutter-button settings now include the Enable AF mode. The user can only lock the AF system when the shutter-release button is pressed down. The Snapshot mode now supports a distance setting of 3.5 meters without locking the AE system.
The user can quickly access the playback function selection menu by giving the monitor a long press while playback is in progress.
