‘Riverdale’ season 1 finally released an official air date for the finale episode. Meanwhile, showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa also confirmed that the series will feature a second major death after Jason Blossom.
According to TV Guide, The CW recently released a list of official air dates for the season finales of their popular shows that includes ‘Arrow,’ ‘The Flash,’ ‘Supergirl,’ as well as ‘Riverdale.’ It was revealed that the final episode of season 1 of the Archie comic book live-action adaptation is scheduled to be released on May 11, 2017.
It was also reported that although the teen drama and mystery television series has skipped a week, it will air its final three episodes beginning on April 27. These consist of episode 11 titled "Chapter Eleven: To Riverdale and Back Again," episode 12 "Chapter Twelve: Anatomy of a Murder," and episode 13 "Chapter Thirteen: The Sweet Hereafter."
The previous episode, "Chapter Ten: The Lost Weekend," followed Fred Andrews as left for Chicago to finalize his divorce from Mary. According to the recap posted on Refinery29, Betty and Veronica then persuaded Archie, who had the house to himself, to throw Jughead a birthday party after they found out that their friend never had an actual celebration before.
Meanwhile, Veronica was elected over Cheryl as the Vixens’ captain for the Homecoming. This angered Cheryl and prompted her to retaliate by crashing Jughead’s party with Chuck and his friends. Cheryl then initiated a game where participates were forced to reveal their secrets, which eventually led to Jughead and Chuck getting into a fight.
F.P., who made an appearance at the party on Betty’s advice, also confronted Alice saying that she was once a member of the Southside Serpents. When Fred returns home, Archie was surprised to find that his mother came home with him.
Mysteries and secrets continue to unfold as the series nears its final episodes. According to Entertainment Weekly, executive producer and showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa confirmed the death of another character in season 1 during a recent press event.
When asked to address the rumors of a major death towards the end of the season, he replied, “Yes, there is truth to that rumor. If the rumored death happens, it would go to set up season 2.”
Aguirre-Sacasa also teased the finale saying, “It has all the different elements that are great about the show combined into one, meaning there’s music in it, there’s romance, there’s suspense and horror… It’s kind of like the ultimate Riverdale episode.”
‘Riverdale’ season 1’s last remaining episodes are scheduled to return on The CW on April 27, beginning with "Chapter Eleven: To Riverdale and Back Again," which was directed by Kevin Sullivan and written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.
