“Riverdale” Season 3 is going to adopt a darker theme compared to its predecessors. Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa said that this season was inspired by his admiration of “True Detective,” which is why there will be a lot of twisted stuff included in this installment, Vulture reported.
Indeed, the trailer for “Riverdale” Season 3 confirms this as scenes portrayed in the footage include mysterious rituals, murderous cults, and ominous promises. The antagonists for this installment are pretty menacing as well as a cult called The Farm is set to cause turmoil in the small American town.
What’s more, the cult’s supposed leader, called the Gargoyle King, will also set in motion some twisted deeds. Little is known about this character but the way he’s described by the showrunners implies he will stir some major crime drama in “Riverdale” Season 3.
And this crime is speculated to fall on the neck of Alice Cooper (Madchen Amick). As rumors would have it, Alice is going to be killed by the cult at some point in “Riverdale” Season 3.
It can be recalled that Polly (Tiera Skovbye) managed to convince her mother to seek help at The Farm as they were the ones who helped her when she was at her lowest. Specifically, the one who lent a helping hand to Polly was Edgar Evernever. There’s still no news regarding who will portray this character in “Riverdale” Season 3 but the casting call is looking for a male in his late 30s or early 40s.
The character is being billed as a health guru whose charm and neighborly aura attracts Alice to his side. Will Evernever manage to convert Alice to the philosophy of The Farm or will she be killed at some point in “Riverdale” Season 3 after she sees through the man’s veneer of kindness?
Better yet, are Evernever and the Gargoyle King one and the same? The pieces of this mysterious puzzle are going to be given once “Riverdale” Season 3 premieres on Oct. 10.
