NEW YORK, April 23, 2018 -- Nomorobo, the popular robocall-blocking service that protects consumers from telemarketers, is taking its fight to Washington, DC. Its Founder, Aaron Foss has been invited as a special witness to testify before the upcoming Subcommittee on Digital Commerce and Consumer Protection (#SubDCCP) hearing entitled “Do Not Call: Combating Robocalls and Caller ID Spoofing.”
The hearing will occur on Friday, April 27, 2018. There, #SubDCCP will examine the tactics behind robocalls and caller ID spoofing that harm consumers. They will also discuss tools that are available to Americans for protecting themselves and their families.
Before the hearing, on April 23, Nomorobo will exhibit at the Stop Illegal Robocalls Expo (Booth #8). The expo is hosted by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
As the winner of the 2013 U.S. Federal Trade Commission Robocall Challenge, Aaron Foss is in a unique position to speak on behalf of consumers. The service's unique technology is able to accurately differentiate between illegal, unwanted robocalls and legitimate, important automated calls from providers like doctors, pharmacies, and public safety organizations. Nomorobo was designed from the ground up to eliminate irritating robocalls as painlessly as possible.
“The Do Not Call List simply does not work against modern robocalls,” said Foss. “It was created with good intentions, but at this point, predators and scammers are completely ignoring it. Our privacy is more at risk than ever before. Both the #SubDCCP hearing and the Stop Illegal Robocalls Expo represent a wonderful show of good faith by the government. Together, we hope to enact a lasting change that helps protect our citizens.”
